KERR LAKE PARK WATCH’S EXPERIENCE SAYS SOSSAMON CANNOT BE TRUSTED – THREW THE VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION UNDER THE BUS

You might ask, why Kerr Lake Park Watch have you waited to expose Frank Sossamon’s shortcomings of trust pretending to help the group while leaking information and plotting with the other side a large issue.
1) It took almost a year and a half to get the true, honest information that Kerr Lake Park Watch and the public had been lied to, when attorneys with the State of North Carolina finally admitted that.
2) About that time, Frank Sossamon was defeated in his bid for relection to the House District 32 seat.  Thus, it seemed like a moot point.
But now Sossamon has returned with his pious and pastoral platform and we think someone needs to know the truth that around a dozen of us heard and were stunned out of our seats.  Read or not, you’ve been warned.

A couple of years ago the man, the legislator, the pastor, Frank Sossamon, totally threw Kerr Lake Park Watch under the bus, and violated confidences, feeding information to the other side of the table in a controversy of where Kerr Lake Park Watch was trying to help the public become more involved and have a stronger voice in the NC State Recreation Areas at Kerr.
Things were proceeding in a toxic manner at the seven North Carolina recreation areas on Kerr Lake. Management at the lake turned a deaf ear to the public and to many veteran employees, and instituted harsh and often unresponsive tactics in dealing with the public users of the seven state recreation areas. It was operating in a vacuum, as it still does today.
In an effort to improve the situation Kerr Lake Park Watch set up a meeting in the fall of 2023. It was attended by the Kerr Lake park officials and by the
director and assistant director of North Carolina State Parks. Likewise, it was attended by steering committee members, members of KLPW and a handful of campers.
Every item on the agenda which had previously been discussed with no one outside of Kerr Lake Park Watch except with Frank Sossamon, was then addressed with an already prepared answer from the parks staff. And those answers, could have only come from knowing the questions in advance of the meeting, and coming directly from Frank Sossamon.

It took almost a year of effort by Kerr Lake Park Watch and its attorney, to get information, public information that should have readily been available under NC open meeting laws.

Frank Sossamon was involved up to his neck in that debacle, a blatant violation in trust, all hampering the efforts of an all volunteer group whose purpose is the promotion, the improvement and the protection of all public lands and facilities around Kerr Lake.
The late actor Andy Griffith years ago told me and others about honesty saying, “𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐲𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐭. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐭. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭.”
But no matter what political rhetoric is bounced regarding Frank Sossamon, a dozen of us know the truth. And so should you.
